About Me

Hi, my name is Aleksandra Popovic – your new piano teacher!

Private Piano Lessons in St. Gallen, Winterthur and Appenzell with Allexandra - Aleksandra Popovic

I started teaching piano in a music school in Belgrade, where I worked over 20 years. I recently moved to Switzerland and continue with my passion for music education through private lessons and through work as a piano teacher in a music school.

Teaching is something I truly love, and I enjoy every part of the process. I’ve worked with students of all ages, abilities, and interests, and I believe each student brings a new and exciting challenge. Over my twenty years of teaching, I’ve taught students how to read music, play piano, and understand basic music theory. I’ve worked with them on piano duets and chamber music. I’ve also prepared students for concerts, competitions and entrance examinations for further musical education. In my lessons, I like to combine different teaching methods, approaches and wide range of literature (from beginner piano books to classical pieces, contemporary music, and popular pop and rock hits) to make sure the learning experience is tailored to each student’s needs.

Education

Graduated musician – pianist

1998 – 2003 | University of Arts, Faculty of Music in Belgrade

  • I started playing the piano at the age of 8. I completed my studies at an Elementary Music School, graduated from a Music High School, and earned my degree from the Faculty of Music Arts, totalling 15 years of education before I began working as a piano teacher.
  • I graduated in 2003 from the Faculty of Music at the University of Arts in Belgrade, where I earned a University degree and a professional title as a Graduated musician – pianist. I also studied harpsichord at the same Faculty and actively participated in many chamber music ensembles.

  • During my work at the Music school as a piano teacher, I’ve had the chance to work with beginners, more experienced students as well as talented students, both children and adults.
  • My lessons covered everything from reading music and playing, to music theory, solfeggio, as well as preparing students for concerts, competitions and chamber music.
